The Bamum Unicode block contains the characters of the Bamum script, invented by King Njoya of Cameroon in the late 1800s. Used for the writing of the Bamum language, the script has undergone several reforms and is a symbol of cultural pride among the Bamum people.
Bamum is a Unicode block containing the characters of stage-G Bamum script, used for modern writing of the Bamum language of western Cameroon. Characters for writing earlier orthographies (stages A–F) are contained in a Bamum Supplement block.
